The problem
Sunglasses or readers? On a bike, you need both.
Your eyes are fine for the road. It's the close-up stuff — the speedometer, the GPS, the fuel gauge — that blurs. The usual workarounds don't hold up at highway speed.

How it works
One lens. Two jobs.
The reading zone sits at the bottom of each lens, right where your eyes go when you glance down at the dash. The rest of the lens is a regular sunglass lens with no magnification.
Upper lens: the road
No magnification. Look straight ahead through a smoked sunglass lens, like any pair of riding shades.
Reading zone: up close
A small magnified segment at the bottom of each lens, in your choice of +1.5, +2.0 or +2.5.

Good to know: like any lined bifocal, there's a visible line where the reading zone starts. Some riders — especially those used to progressive lenses — say it takes a few rides to get used to.

Choosing a strength
Which strength is right for you?
If you already use drugstore readers, choose the same strength you use now. If you don't use readers yet or wear prescription glasses, your eye-care professional can tell you which reading strength fits. Needs vary from person to person, so age alone isn't a good guide.
Mild close-up blur. You can still read a menu if you hold it far enough away.
On the bike: A subtle boost for your dash and GPS.
Moderate. You reach for readers at restaurants and when checking your phone.
On the bike: A clear dash and readable GPS screen.
Significant. Fine print is hard to read without readers.
On the bike: The most magnification for your dash and close-up reading.

How do I choose my strength?
If you already use drugstore reading glasses, choose the same strength you use now.
If you don't use readers yet, or you wear prescription glasses, ask your eye-care professional which reading strength is right for you. Magnification needs vary from person to person — age alone isn't a reliable guide.
Some riders find a strength too strong for glancing at a dash, which sits farther away than a book. If you're between two strengths, your eye-care professional can help you decide.
Where is the reading zone, and will I notice it?
The reading zone is a small area at the bottom of each lens. The rest of the lens has no magnification, so looking straight ahead at the road is like looking through regular sunglasses.
Like any lined bifocal, there's a visible line where the reading zone starts. Some riders — especially people used to progressive lenses — tell us it takes a few rides to get used to it.
How do they fit? Will they work with my helmet?
It's a wraparound frame with a foam lining, rubber ear pads, and an adjustable nose pad. Many reviewers mention a comfortable fit, but faces vary — a few found the frame too wide or too narrow.
The rubber ear pads and nose pad are there to help them stay put under a helmet. Helmet shapes vary, so check that the arms sit comfortably under your helmet's padding.
Can I use them to read my phone?
Yes — once you're parked. The reading zone makes texts, maps, and menus easier to read when you're stopped. Please don't use your phone while riding.
What lens colors are available?
This page is for the smoked lens, our sunglass tint. The same frame and reading zone also come with clear lenses and yellow lenses, available on our product page at skullsociety.com.
How much is shipping, and how fast is it?
Standard Shipping is $6.95 (3–5 business days) and Priority is $14.95 (2–4 business days). Orders are processed within 2 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. You'll see the exact shipping cost before you pay.
What's your return policy?
You can return unused items in their original packaging within 30 days. Return shipping is paid by the customer. If your order arrives damaged, email support@skullsociety.com with your order number and a photo and we'll work with you on a solution.
